Rare Hawaiian Tornado Captured on Video

A rare tornado on the Hawaiian island of Oahu was captured on video Wednesday. The twister was strong enough to lift a golf cart weighing 800 to 1000 pounds, as well as an assistant golf pro weighing 250 pounds. Local National Weather Service meteorologists will be consulting with more experienced colleagues on the mainland to do a damage assessment. Initial analysis indicates the storm was an F0 on the Fujita scale, but it could possibly have reached F1. There have been only 37 previous tornadoes reported in Hawaii since records began in 1950; 10 have occurred in the current decade. The most recent F1 storm was on March 26, 1988.
